Thieves stole a piece of construction equipment from the Auto Zone site on Pine Island Rd. in Cape Coral.   Security cameras indicate the theft occured between 8 AM and 8 PM on Sunday, June 19.    The owner of the company that lost the machine is angry.

"I am mad because this is how we make our living.   I worked hard to get every piece of machinery.   We need that equipment to get jobs and make a living," said Kurt Hambsch, pres. of Southern Gulf Construction.

Hambsch says thieves stole a 'skid-steer' --- a Bobcat-like machine that spreads fill dirt and smoothes cement.    It's needed for work at the Auto Zone construction site in Cape Coral.

"This is pretty low, to steal a working man's tools," said Hambsch.

Other recent crimes in that area have targeted Kia vehicles, and water pipes at the Twins Plaza shopping center.   Debbie  Graham, mgr. of a store int he plaza, says it makes her ill.   "I feel horrible for the innocent people losing money to these thieves.   Those crooks sure have a lot of nerve to do some of this in daylight.   It's a horrible situation," she told WINK News.
