COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A WINK News exclusive.  A Collier County father is speaking out about a man he once considered his friend. That man is now accused of stalking his young daughter.  This isn't the first time the accused has been in trouble with the law.

The girl is safe but her father has a message for the accused. Ram Gabriel, 20, of Naples, has been charged with aggravated stalking of a minor under 16. When he was arrested Sunday, court records show he was out on bond and awaiting trial for sexual battery with a minor charge from 2009.

"Over and over we asked him to leave us alone, to go find a girl his age. He didn't understand, he didn't get the message," a Collier County father.

WINK News is not revealing the name a Collier County father in order to protect his daughter. Deputies said his little girl was stalked by Gabriel. This father says the accused was his friend.

"You can never go by face value. You never know what is going through a person's mind. You should really check," said the father.

Gabriel has been charged with aggravated stalking of a minor under 16. According to an arrest report, he made advances toward the young teen at public events and even asked her father's permission to see her.

"He asked her would she date him. He asked me can I date her. We told him it was in inappropriate and he wouldn't get the message," said the father.

Two weeks ago, the father received word that Gabriel had been charged before. He is out on bond and awaiting trial for two charges of sexual battery on a child under the age of 12 from 2009. It sent up red flags and this weekend the father says it got to be too much after a voicemail left by Gabriel said he wanted to reclaim his property.

"5 a.m. Sunday I figured out what he was talking about. He was referring to my daughter as being his property and he wanted to reclaim it," said the father.

The young teen is safe and the father said Gabriel never hurt her. But this father is sad that the man he considered his friend betrayed him.

"I'm sad that he took advantage of our friendship and of our spirit to help. He needs help and he needs to stay away from children," said the father.

Gabriel is set to be in court on the 2009 charge on July 15. For the new charge of stalking, he'll be back in court July 5.

WINK News stopped by Gabriel's home but no one was there.
