NORTH CAPE CORAL, Fla.-- More than three dozen fire personnel are fighting the Little West fire just east of Burnt Store Road in North Cape Coral.

By midday Tuesday, the fire had burned 250 acres. The Florida Division of Forestry says it is 75% contained.

Crews have been fighting the fire for three days, but gusty winds and low humidity have hindered their containment efforts.

Portions of Burnt Store Road had to be closed for some time Monday evening, but the road was opened Tuesday.

Teams from 8 different districts including Cape Coral, Estero, Lehigh Acres, Bayshore and North Fort Myers are all helping with the clean up.

On Tuesday, the Florida Division of Forestry launched a chopper to assess whether water drops would be necessary.

Crews are keeping a close eye on a big cypress head, a large grouping of cypress trees. If the fire gets too close, those trees could help spread the fire.

Even if it is contained by the end of the day, crews will remain on scene to mop up and monitor any hot spots.
