JOPLIN, Missouri -- Volunteers from southwest Florida are on the ground and volunteering in Joplin, Missouri after last week's deadly tornado.

Colin Downey is the communications coordinator for the American Red Cross Lee County chapter. He said it's hard to put into words what he's seen. The American Red Coss encourages people to give monetary donations if they want to help.

Downey said he's amazed at the good spirits of all the victims.

"Its so hard to find someone who has got a frown on their face or who has something negative to say. everybody wants to start moving forward, everybody wants to help out somehow," said Downey.

Downey will return to Fort Myers Thursday.
