FORT MYERS,FL- An 82-year old woman and her family wake up to a terrifying discovery.
A stranger is in their home.

Seconds later deputies are there because they'd been following the suspect by helicopter for several blocks.

Resident Cynthia Gillette says, "You can see all the glass that we swept up."

A bucket of broken glass and a broken screen door are just A few reminders of the terror Cynthia Gillette says she experienced late last night.

"I thought it was an explosion."

Deputies say it was 34 year old Jeffrey Moore who in trying to get away from deputies after stealing his neighbor's truck, hopped a fence, and smashed this screen door with a chair he picked up off the lanai.

"I was scared!"

It got worse.
Deputies say Moore ran into this guest bedroom and tried to barricade himself inside hiding in the closet.

"He somehow turned this bed upside down, and tried to hide behind it, see there's a hole in the wall."

Deputies swarmed in with a K-9 and used a taser on Moore, finally wrestling him into handcuffs.

Today Gillette says she's still shaken up.
She's just glad the situation wasn't worse.

"I said God must have been with us watching out for us, none of us got hurt. "

According to the sheriff's office website, Moore isn't a stranger to the charges he's facing.
He's been arrested several times for grand theft auto, burglary, as well as fleeing and eluding police.
