COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Robert Hamberg, the former Gulf Coast High School band director, has been sentenced to 30 years in prisonfor eight counts of lewd and lacivious battery and 15 years of probation once released. He tried to get a retrial, but the judge denied it.

Hamberg had been found guilty of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

Hamberg's victim described to the court the last two years of her life since she came forward about her relationship with Hamberg. 

The victim said she has felt "isolated and disconnected." She said, "I've had to give up so much of my life." 

She said she has not been able to engage in "normal" teenage things, like movies and the mall, because of the torment she still receives. She stated that she has been bullied and threatened. 

The victim's parents praise their daughter for speaking out. They also said the school district should have protected their daughter.
