NAPLES, Fla -- An elementary school principal in Naples goes to the extreme to keep her promise to her students. The very unique bet is taking where she goes to sleep to new heights.

Golden Terrace principal Kim Lonergan told her students that she would sleep on the roof of the school after a bet she made with them eight months ago.

In September, Lonergan read a book to her students and in that book, the principal of the school challenged students to read at least one book.

Golden Terrace Elementary took things to new heights when Lonergan promised her students that she would sleep on the roof if they read a million minutes.

May 6 that goal was reached meaning Lonergan would take her pillow to new heights.

"If I can get them to read and love to read, that's all I want. So if it takes me sleeping on the roof for them all to read and love it? Then I'll sleep on the roof," said Lonergan.

Lonergan has a tent, a book and a light and said she will be heading to bed around 11 p.m. but plans to be wide awake and back to work Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. when students arrive.
