BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Bonita Springs man got a home makeover with the help of some Bonita Springs firefighters.

Juan Romero is well-known in the area for running a soccer program for under privileged children called Casa Mexico.

Recently he lost his agriculture job and had a total knee replacement. His family's home needed a new paint job, new stairs and some cleaning up but Juan couldn't do the work himself.

So 30 firefighters from the Bonita Fire Union stepped in.

"When you're receiving some help back, it feels warm and nice. It feels like you are really part of the community," said Juan Romero, who received a home makeover.

Volunteers from the fire union spent the past two days getting all the work done. Several stores also helped by donating hundreds of dollars to make it all happen.
