PUNTA GORDA Fla. - A 17 year old arrested in connection with a shooting in Punta Gorda on Sunday morning reveals that he was inside a popular local bar and claims that he was being served alcohol. Yesterday police arrested 17 year old Dalton Woodrow Edwards from North Port in connection with a shooting outside the River City Grill over the weekend where one woman was injured. According to police reports, Edwards says that he was inside the bar drinking alcohol before they closed. Doug Ameral, the owner of River City Grill says that if Edwards was in his bar, he most likely used a fake id to get in. "Every single person that walks in here gets carded at the front door", he said. Tom Lewis with the Punta Gorda Police Department says that his agency is investigating the claims that Edwards was drinking in the bar. "We have not verified that information yet but we are working with the other authorities to address those concerns". Edwards was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officers say that the case is still open and more arrests may be pending
