LEE & COLLIER COUNTIES, Fla.- Lightning caused several fires across Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties, according to Division of Forestry.
A wildfire burning in the Picayune Strand State Forest is estimated at 3,191 acresand is 65 percent contained. It is located in the general area of 68th Ave. SE and Patterson Blvd. No structures are threatened. Florida Highway Patrol is monitoring smoke conditions that may impact Alligator Alley.
The Slope Fire, which burned 2,824 acres in Golden Gate Estates, is 100 percent contained.
A fire in Buckingham charred about 50 acres before it was out completely.
Another fire was located at 6th Street NW and 25th Ave NW in Golden Gate. This fire burned approximately 25 acres. Four homes were in danger, but none were damaged.
Division of Forestry wildland firefighters continue to work with local fire districts to manage several wildfires caused by yesterday’s lightning strikes.
