PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - The Punta Gorda Police Department is looking for a black Mitsubishi Galant, or similar vehicle, that may have been involved in a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown Punta Gorda.
Punta Gorda Police responded to the shooting around 2 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of West Marion Avenue and Taylor Street. A woman sitting on a bench had been shot in the leg. Her injury was not life-threatening, but she remains hospitalized.
A preliminary investigation by responding officers revealed that an argument started inside River City Grill, located at 131 West Marion Avenue. Detectives suspect two of the people involved in the argument left the bar and got inside the black vehicle. One of the occupants then fired a shot from the moving vehicle at the intersection of West Marion Avenue and Taylor Street. The bullet hit the innocent bystander sitting on the bench.
