LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -  On Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 10:20 P.M., the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting. Deputies responded to 2304 Leda Avenue South, Lehigh Acres, where they found a black female laying on the floor of the garage, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Jackie Denice Dillard (DOB 11/11/69), lived at the residence. She was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
 
Due to the nature of the incident, a crime scene was established and homicide detectives with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.
