WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida woman has been convicted of trying to hire someone to kill her husband of just six months.

A Palm Beach County jury found 29-year-old Dalia Dippolito guilty Friday of solicitation to commit first-degree murder.

Boynton Beach police say Dippolito offered a hit man - who was actually an undercover police officer - $3,000 to kill her husband in August 2009.

Dippolito's attorney argued in opening statements that she never planned to kill her husband. She thought she was being recorded as part of a hoax to get her husband, Michael, on a reality TV show. The husband denied the accusation, and police said there was no evidence to support it.

Dippolito faces up to 30 years in prison at her June 16 sentencing.
