GAINESVILLE, Fla.- Local police are investigating a call that reported possible shots fired near the University of Florida, according to a spokesperson from the University.
Janine Sikes, Director of Public Affairs at the University, said that officers determined that the noise came from an area adjacent to the campus.
Officials said that at this time it appears that no actual shots were fired.
It is unclear whether there were any students on the Waldo Road campus at the time possible shots were reported. Sikes noted that administrative offices are located at that location, in addition to occasional classes.
Both University Police and the Gainesville Police Department responded.
