CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Police arrest a registered sex offender for violating county laws by visiting a public library.

Ronald Davis, Jr. faces charges for violating Lee County's Child Safety Zone ordinance.

A Cape Coral officer questioned Davis as he was heading to the public library on Chiquita Boulevard to use a telephone and computer.  Police say there were children present in the library, which makes Davis' presence a violation.  The Child Safety Zone Ordinance states "sexual offenders are not allowed in "permanent or stationary facilities including public or private schools, public libraries, public or private playgrounds and/or play facilities, YMCA and YWCA facilities, Boys and Girls Club facilities, youth campgrounds, parks, youth sports facilities, skate parks, public zoos, public swimming pools and other similar places where children regularly congregate."

Davis had signed paperwork in 2010 which acknowledged he understood the law.
