CAPE CORAL, Fla -  Servers at a Cape Coral restaurant are being called heroes after they dove into the water to save two people from drowning.

Thursday night, outside Rum Runners restaurant near Chiquita Blvd, a man drove his SUV into the water.

The customers couldn't believe what they were seeing.

The people inside the SUV started screaming for help.

Two servers saw what was happening, jumped into the water, and pulled the two people inside to safety

Both men tell WINK News they didn't think twice about it saving the two people.

"I heard someone say, "Oh my God there's a car in the canal". I look up and just took of running," said Paul Gile, a server at Rum Runners.

"The only thing that came to mind was some one's in danger and you need to help. You just have to snap to it," said Michael McHugh, another server at Rum Runners.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police did cite the driver for careless driving.
