CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Special Needs students from schools across Lee County dusted off their dancing shoes this afternoon. About 120 kids joined in the Mariner High School gym for their 2nd Annual Spring Dance. The event brings together physically and mentally handicapped high schoolers from Mariner, Ida Baker, and Island Coast high schools.

"There's nothing greater than seeing the pleasure on their face and the smiles on their faces and them interacting with each other and dancing. I think every student should have that opportunity," Mariner High School Life Skills teacher Carla Jerdan said Thursday.

Jerdan says for many of the students, it's their first time attending a school function.
