A brush fire burned in Charlotte County Wednesday afternoon and evening. The fire started at Florida 31 and Bermont Road in Punta Gorda. The fire was approximately 100-125 acres in size. The fire has been completely contained.

There are two fires that started burning Thursday late afternoon near the Charlotte/Glades county line. Pat Mahoney with Division of Forestry said the fires are located on Babcock Ranch. The fires are not burning near any homes. One of the fires is 20 acres and the other is 60. Lightning is believed to be the cause.
