COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - The Golden Gate Fire District is turning to it's residents to help build a new much-need station. The district is looking for at least a five acre donation of land near the intersection of Golden Gate and Everglades Boulevard.

If the district can get the donation, they up their chances of receiving a government grant. The grant could pay up to 90 percent of the million dollar cost to build and equip the new station. Chief Bob Metzger tells WINK News a station in that area could cut response times up to 11 minutes in some cases.

The Golden Gate Estates Area Civic Association is trying to help with the donation. If anyone is interested in donating land you can contact Tim Nance with the association at (239) 641-5414.
