LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Officials at Southwest Florida Int'l Airport tell WINK News a passenger jet experiencing engine problems landed safely this afternoon.

AirTran flight 605 departed for Baltimore shortly after 2:00 Tuesday afternoon.  A spokesperson at the airport says the pilots reported engine trouble a few minutes into flight. The decision was made to return to RSW and it landed safely after burning off fuel.

Maintenance is now checking out the plane.

Air Tran is flying another plane to Fort Myers to continue the flight to Baltimore.  It is expected to leave at 4:50 p.m.

There were 116 passengers and 5 crew members on board.
