Cindy Hart thought something might be amiss in her Englewood home earlier this week when she returned from an outing. "Sunday I had gone to a picnic and came home here about 3:30 and I noticed that the ceiling fan and lights in my bedroom was on" Said Hart. She didn't think too much of it until she returned home from work yesterday and realized that her worst fears had come true. "I went into the bathroom and I noticed that the shower was moved in my bathroom and I got fearful and ran out and ran next door" said Hart.
If it wasn't bad enough that bandits had been in her home, it was what Hart discovered next that gave the story a familiar spin. She noticed that the thief had eaten her porridge: "He ate oatmeal, we found the bowl in the sink" and slept in her bed: "When I came in to the bedroom I noticed that the sheets were pulled back and so was everything on this side" Said Hart.
The burglar watched some TV, stole some loose change and trinkets and ate all of Harts chocolate chip cookies before heading back out through the back door of the home. Hart acknowledges that the story sounds amusingly familiar, but she says that it's hard for her to laugh about it. " Im terrified, I am im am absolutely terrified right now because I don't know if somebody is watching me." Said Hart.
Deputies in Charlotte County are investigating the caper and they say that they do have a couple of leads, but they are not disclosing if any of them involve a little girl with blond hair and pigtails.
