CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Cape Coral Police were called regarding a robbery at the Citgo convenience store located at 805 Cape Coral Parkway East on Monday evening at 9:27 p.m. Numerous calls from witnesses as well as the clerk were received.
The clerk told police that he had stepped outside for a moment when he was approached by the male suspect. The suspect pushed the clerk back inside of the store as he shouted at him. The suspect told the clerk to “Open the register, give me the money or I’ll shoot you!” The suspect had a cell phone up to his ear and one hand behind his back, to insinuate that he was armed.
The clerk opened the register out of fear. The suspect reached into the register and took the $5 and $10 dollar bills. The suspect then shoved the money into his left pocket and walked out of the store.
Officers canvassed the area and found witnesses that described the suspects just prior to the robbery loitering behind the store. Cape Coral Police also received a tip from an “ear-witness”. As the suspect was committing the robbery, he was indeed on the telephone. The person on the other end of the phone called CCPD and told them that Bo Daniel Jones had just committed a robbery.
At that time, Officers had set up a perimeter on the downtown area of the Cape. Officers observed a male fitting the description of the robber in the Club Square area (SE 9th Place / SE 46th Lane). Police detained the male, along with another male and female that he was with. The male that matched the description of the robber was identified as Bo Daniel Jones.
Jones was searched and he was in possession of $220 dollars, all in denominations of $5 and $10. All of the money was shoved into his left pocket. Witnesses were brought to the area where Jones was detained and they positively identified him as the robber.
Jones was brought to CCPD Headquarters along with the female and the other male, John Joseph Rice. During questioning, Jones admitted to robbing the Citgo after planning the crime with Rice. The two were going to split the proceeds from the robbery. The female was Rice’s girlfriend and was not involved in the crime and later released.
Bo Daniel Jones was arrested and charged with robbery. John Joseph Rice was arrested and charged with principal to commit robbery.
