HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla.-  A 300,000 gallon capacity water tank located at the former Georgia Pacific plant located at 400 State Road 70 in Lake Placid burst sending the contents of the tank through an adjacent concrete block structure at approximately 2:00 p.m. Thursday and killing two workers, according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.

Within the small adjacent building, two workers were completing repairs on a pump designed to fill the tank.

The resulting rush of water caused the building to collapse trapping the victims inside.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

It is unknown at this time how much water was contained in the tank at the time of the structure failure.

The investigation is continuing and further details will be released as they become available.
