LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Wednesday is National Start! Walking Day – the American Heart Association invites all Lee County residents to join them for a walk in the park.
By doing so, they will get the recommended half-hour of exercise that can make a vital difference to their health, reducing their risk of cardiovascular disease by as much as 30 percent.
This year’s National Start! Walking Day event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at Lakes Park The American Heart Association considers healthy lifestyle choices a community priority.
Nearly 67 percent of Americans are overweight and are at risk for heart complications from sedentary lives. Yet brisk walking for as little as 30 minutes a day has proven health benefits, such as providing increased energy and circulation, as well as reduced risk of heart disease.
