TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Two Tampa Bay area roads would be designated as memorial highways honoring five law enforcement officers who recently lost their lives in the line of duty under a bill that has passed in the Florida Senate.

The measure (SB 782) received unanimous approval Wednesday. It now goes to the House where a similar bill is awaiting a floor vote.

The bill would designate part of State Road 687 in Pinellas County to honor St. Petersburg police Sgt. Thomas J. Baitinger and officers Jeffrey A. Yaslowitz and David S. Crawford.

Part of north 50th Street in Hillsborough County would memorialize Plant City office Jeffrey A. Kocab and Tampa officer David L. Curtis.

Markers would be placed on the roads but street names and addresses would not be changed.
