NORTH FORT MYERS, FL- A liquor store employee chases after a bottle snatching thief only to find himself dodging bullets.

The couple that owns Discount Wine and Spirits in North Fort Myers has an arsenal ready, should they encounter problematic patrons.

Down the sidewalk and past these mailboxes the employee chased the suspect until the suspect fired a gun at him.

Witness Gary Bates had just purchased a bottle of liquor when he saw the man run by, "'I seen somebody run in and then I heard the guy chase him down the road."

John Brown spotted the suspect in his yard, "They were trying to jump my fence right here, right here in the corner."

Deputies set up a perimeter and not long after they had 23 year old Christopher Rosine in their custody They say near him was a handgun and a bottle of brandy.

While the store owners say they wish their employee hadn't run after the crook, they're glad he was caught.
They hope others with similar intentions will heed their warning.

Keith Foss, the owner? says, "I've got a baseball bat, or a billy club, or a stun gun, send the message across."
