DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- A central Florida man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after police say he shot his girlfriend twice in the face.
Daytona Beach police say 60-year-old Richard Simmons was arrested Sunday. Jail records show he was being held Monday in the Volusia County Jail. It wasn't immediately known if he has an attorney.
Simmons told police he and 46-year-old Michelle Prizo had been arguing before he used a handgun to shoot her in the parking lot of a Walmart.
Police say Simmons then drove Prizo to the hospital where she is listed in critical but stable condition.
