MIAMI (AP) - The mother of 10-year-old twins found in a toxic truck in Florida has appeared before a judge to face charges of murder, child abuse and neglect.
Carmen Barahona made her first court appearance from jail Sunday via a closed-circuit television. She was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Nubia Barahona. The girl was found in the back of the truck Feb. 14 along Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach. Her twin brother, Victor, was found in the front seat of the truck, critically burned by a chemical. He was recently released from the hospital.
The children's father, Jorge Barahona, was on the ground nearby. He has pleaded not guilty to attempted first-degree murder.
Carmen Barahona is being held without bond.
