JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A man from New York wanted on an attempted murder warrant was fatally shot in north Florida.

Jacksonville police said Friday that the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was responding to a tip the man was at an apartment complex, and they tried to catch him. Police say he jumped out of a second floor window and fled armed with a weapon.

Police say the man was killed in an exchange of gunfire with authorities.

No other information was immediately available.
