ISLAMORADA, Fla. (AP) - A group of wounded warriors from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are fishing in the Florida Keys as part of their rehabilitation.

About a dozen veterans, all who experienced severe injuries within the last year, are being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. They were chosen by their doctors to participate in the trip organized by the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Alan Earl, a coordinator with the PVA's Sports and Recreation program, says the purpose of the trip is to show the veterans that even with severe injuries, they can still enjoy recreational activities.

The vets fished off Islamorada Thursday and Friday. Their catches ranged from kingfish to yellowtail snapper. Several sailfish were caught and released.
