TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - State Supreme Court Justice Barbara Pariente is frustrated by the slow progress of developing privacy protection rules as Florida moves toward electronic court records.

Pariente said it shouldn't be that complicated during oral argument on the latest proposals Friday.

The high court set the process in motion eight years ago.

Its Committee on Access to Court Records has proposed rules for excluding personal information if it's not necessary for resolving or managing cases.

Representatives of committees from various legal specialties argued over such issues as whether Social Security numbers should be entirely excluded from court records or just the first six of the 10-digit numbers.
