MIAMI (AP) - One man has died and another is wounded after being shot by a Miami police officer during a traffic stop.

Miami Police Chief Miguel Exposito says the officer was participating in a joint operation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

According to police, the officer fired at the two men during a confrontation after the traffic stop late Thursday. One man died at a hospital. Neither of the men's names was released.

Exposito said Friday that police and the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Officer will investigate the shooting. He declined further comment about the shooting, except to say that it is "always unfortunate when our officers must resort to this."
