TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Police have arrested a 23-year-old man and charged him with aggravated child abuse after he allegedly injured a 16-month old boy.
Officials say Dwayne Poole punished the boy for playing too close to an electrical outlet by throwing the baby on a bed. Detectives said the boy's head either hit a wall or dresser, and the boy was taken to an area hospital. Police did not indicate Poole's relationship to the child.
Officials say the boy has a skull fracture, is brain dead and has a minimal chance of survival.
Poole has been charged with aggravated child abuse and is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail. It is unknown whether he has an attorney.
