LEE COUNTY, Fla. - A man has been cited for animal cruelty after investigators determine he forced his dog to live with one of its eyes hanging from its socket.

Lee County Animal Services has seized the 2 year-old Yorkie and given it the operation it needed - removing one of its eyes.

Its unclear how the dog's injury happened or how long it had been living with the injury and infection - but authorities say it could have been up to a week.

Doctors say if the injury had been treated sooner, the eye could have been saved.

The dog's former owners were cited for animal cruelty, failure to register and failure to vaccinate it.

Now it is looking for a new home, if you're interested in adopting 'Mini' you can call Lee County Animal Services at (239) 533-7387.
