ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A U.S. Marshal and two St. Petersburg police officers have been seriously wounded during a shooting in St. Petersburg.
Police spokesman Michael Puetz says the suspect remains barricaded inside the house where the Monday morning shooting happened.
The marshal and officers had come to arrest the suspect. Puetz says the suspect was hiding in the attic and opened fire on the officers. Police had to punch a hole in the wall to rescue an officer. All were taken to the hospital. Puetz says the police officers are in critical condition while the marshal is in stable condition.
The shooting comes four days after two Miami-Dade County detectives were killed by a murder suspect they were trying to arrest. That suspect was killed by another detective.
