PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Punta Gorda man for forcing a mother to watch as he sexually assaulted her 12 year old daughter three times. Arrested on nine charges was Jerome Nubin, 32, 6417 Scott St.; this is his 13 booking into the Charlotte County Jail.
CCSO responded to a call Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and were told by the child’s grandfather that Nubin had raped his granddaughter. He said he went to Nubin’s home and was met by Nubin swinging a baseball bat. Nubin came out of the home threatening the grandfather and began throwing several bricks, a lamp and a child’s scooter at him; only a car received damages.
Major Crime’s detectives contacted the child who said between 12:00 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, Nubin sexually battered her while she was in her mother’s bedroom with her mother present. Detectives said the child and her mother were held against their will with verbal threats of violence by Nubin using a baseball bat while the sexual battery took place. Detectives said Nubin, the mother’s boyfriend, slapped and punched her. He then told the juvenile to take her clothes off or he would cut her throat. Sexual intercourse was done three separate times. The child was taken to an area hospital, and then met with the CCSO forensic interviewer.
The Probable Cause Affidavit stated, “Nubin committed the crime of kidnapping of a child under 13 when he forcibly, secretly, or by threat, confining, abducted, or imprisoning the 12 year old juvenile victim against her will and committed sexual battery.”
Nubin remains in the Charlotte County Jail without bond. He is charged with three counts of Sexual Battery on a 12 year old; three counts of Aggravated Assault; Kidnapping of a Child, and Domestic Battery.
