ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A man accused of impersonating a police officer to rob and rape a woman in Tampa faces life in prison after a jury found him guilty.
Jurors returned the verdict against 31-year-old Luis Munuzuri-Harris after nine hours of deliberation late Thursday. He will be sentenced Feb. 17.
Munuzuri-Harris represented himself when the trial began. He cross-examined his victim before making a sudden request for attorneys.
During closing arguments, Munuzuri stood, pointed at the victim and blurted out things not allowed as evidence during the trial. The judge ordered him removed from the courtroom.
The 28-year-old victim testified about being pulled over Munuzuri-Harris, who had a blue light in his car. She says she was handcuffed and eventually raped in the back seat.
