GREENACRES, Fla. (AP) - An elementary school bookkeeper is accused of taking more than $13,000 from the school's safe.
Police arrested 36-year-old Kim Griffin of Lake Worth Tuesday night. Authorities say she took money that teachers had deposited in the safe at Diamond View Elementary School between November 2009 and January 2010.
Police say 23 school employees provided evidence they deposited $13,262.24 into the safe. Matching receipts that Griffin was supposed to have after the money was deposited into the school's bank account were not found.
Almost $10,000 was found in envelopes in Griffin's office.
Griffin has been bookkeeper at the Palm Beach County school since 2003. She was removed from the position last January while authorities investigated .
