Firefighters scrambled to a reported plane crash in Alva around 11am this morning, only to find the plane still flying overhead.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says a witness saw the plane make a steep dive with smoke coming out of the back and assumed that it had crashed. Authorities from Lee County EMS and the Port Authority confirmed to WINK News that a report had been received of a crashed crop duster plane.
Once fire fighters got on scene to search for the downed aircraft, however, they found no wreckage and instead saw a crop duster flying overhead.
Continued searching confirmed that no plane had crashed, and it was just a crop duster making it's regular rounds
Crews were released from the scene a short time later.
