CAPE CORAL- Cape Coral Police Detectives have arrested two suspects from an armed robbery that occurred on Sunday January 16th. On that date, the victim called an acquaintance to purchase marijuana. The victim’s acquaintance was unable to deliver but sent his brother to the victim’s house to broker the deal.
The victim got into the car that the dealer arrived in. The car was also occupied by two passengers other than the driver. The victim purchased $10 worth of marijuana from the passenger of the car and they all drove to a convenience store to purchase a cigar. After the cigar was purchased, they began driving back to the victim’s house.
At the intersection of Academy Blvd and Archer Pkwy, the rear passenger pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim’s head and demanded his money. The victim gave up his wallet (containing $300 cash) and his cell phone (valued at $50) and jumped out of the car. The suspects then fled in their vehicle. The victim flagged down a bystander and called police.
Detectives were able to develop Bryan Javier Ortiz 08-12-92 of 2065 Coral Pointe Drive Cape Coral and Cornelius Robinson 12-10-86 of 2065 Coral Pointe Drive Cape Coral as suspects. The victim was able to positively identify Robinson and Ortiz as the men who robbed him.
On Wednesday January 19th, Cape Coral Police Officers were summoned to a disturbance on Coral Pointe Drive. While investigating the disturbance, Ortiz and Robinson were recognized and placed under arrest for the weekend robbery.
