CHARLOTTE COUNTY- Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives Tuesday arrested a 16 year old from Port Charlotte, one of two involved in an armed robbery by knife on two juveniles. Ironically, one of the juvenile victims located the juvinile's photo in a school year book a week later. The victim called CCSO and said he used to play flag football with the juvinie and couldn’t believe the boy robbed him.
The incident occurred Jan. 7 around 8:30 p.m. by the Murdock Professional Center, 18350 Murdock Circle, Port Charlotte. Two juvenile boys, ages 14 and 15, said they were walking toward Town Center Mall and were approached by two juvenile boys. The juvenile victims were held at knife point; one suspect went through the pockets of one boy and took $10. Stolen from the other boy was a dog tag with Superman charm, wallet, watch, bracelet and his Port Charlotte Middle School ID card. One of the suspects removed a cell phone from one boy, took the battery out and gave the phone back. The two suspects then fled the area.
Tuesday, detectives went to Port Charlotte High School and arrested the 16-year-old. He was charged with Armed Robbery with a Knife. He was booked into the Charlotte County Jail and then transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice center in Ft. Myers. Detectives continue trying to locate the other teen suspect.
Anyone with information about the second suspect, please call the CCSO at 941-639-2101 or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
