The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit raided Smoke N’ CD’s, 3129 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte, for trafficking in methamphetamine. Detectives issued a search warrant Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and arrested four Port Charlotte residents.
A search of a back room of the business marked “Employees Only” located 27.5 grams of Methamphetamine. An Ajax container with false bottom had two baggies with 29.1 grams of marijuana. Behind the sales counter detectives found a bag containing numerous smoking pipes with methamphetamine residue. A metal grinder with two baggies contained 0.7 grams of methamphetamine as also located. Several glass pipes, numerous bongs, smoking pipes, stems, hookahs and rolling papers were confiscated for evidence.
Arrested was the manager, Elliot M. Beafore, 36, 1280 Armsdale Ave.; Candice Rena Wharton, 27, 1273 Armsdale Ave.; Noah Lee Clark, 36, 507 Cicero St.; and Michael H. Artell, 47, 1021 Tropical Ave. They were transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Beafore and Wharton were charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Methetamine, Possession of Marijuana Over 20 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $31,000 each. Clark and Artell were both charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana Over 20 Grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; their bond was set at $6,000.
