FORT MYERS, Fla.-- A Save-A-Lot Food Store opened Tuesday in a Fort Myers neighborhood that's been without a grocery store for more than three years.

The store is located at 3257 Cleveland Avenue at the former sight of a Publix Supermarket. The Publix closed there in October 2007.

The store opening means nearby residents will finally have a place to shop for groceries close to their homes.

The Director of Operations, Dave Hoalt, says the store offers groceries at 40% below conventional grocery store prices without sacrificing quality.

Seventy jobs were created with the opening of the store.

The Fort Myers location will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Another Save-A-Lot location is set to open in March at the Morse Shores shopping center on Palm Beach Blvd.
