The Lee County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted for his role in two late night burglaries to area department stores.
On Thursday, December 16, 2010, at approximately 11:30 P.M., deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to Best Buy, located at 10033 Gulf Center Drive, Gulf Coast Town Center, in reference to a burglary. When deputies arrived on scene they learned from store management that an unknown white male suspect was seen inside the store after hours and was believed to have been hiding in the store at the time of closing. The suspect then left the store with several electronic items, but dropped many of the items once he was spotted by witnesses outside the store. The suspect got into a minivan with an out of state license plate and drove off at a high rate of speed on Treeline Parkway.
Investigators believe this same suspect is responsible for a similar crime that occurred at the Gulf Coast Town Center Target on December 2, 2010. Deputies responded to the store at approximately 12:12 A.M. in reference to a burglary. Investigators learned that in-store cameras captured a white male in the store after hours. It is believed the suspect hid in the store and stole multiple items after the store was closed and all employees were gone for the night. Like the Best Buy incident, the suspect in this burglary stole I-Pods and other electronic items.
Please see the attached surveillance photos.
Due to the nature of the crimes, Criminal Investigation Division detectives, assigned to the Lee County Sheriff's Office Delta (South) District have assumed the investigation.
Anyone with information on the identity of the person responsible for these crimes is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 dollars, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
