ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - One person is dead after a crash involving a sedan and an Orlando police officer.

Authorities say the officer crashed his patrol car into a Chrysler sedan early Monday.

The officer and a passenger in the sedan were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the sedan was killed.

Sgt. Barbara Jones with the Orlando Police Department says the officer was on routine patrol when the crash occurred. He was not responding to a call.

Another officer was following behind the officer in his patrol car.

The names of the officer and others involved have not been released. Orlando police detectives and the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating.
