The Florida Blood Centers are putting out an urgent call for type O-negative blood.  The centers say they are critically short of that type, the universal type that can be infused into anyone.

"We need the blood at once.    It will be infused into patients within a couple of  days.   The need is that great," said Denise Stiles, Manager at the blood center in South Ft. Myers.

AS AN EXTRA INCENTIVE:      THE CENTERS ARE GIVING RESTUARANT AND MOVIE THEATER GIFT CARDS TO PEOPLE WHO DONATE O-NEGATIVE.    THAT OFFER WILL BE HONORED THROUGH THE END OF HTE YEAR.
DONOR DAVID DURANT SAYS:     HE REALIZES PEOPLE ARE BUSY THIS TIME OF YEAR, BUT DONATING BLOOD TAKES ONLY A FEW MINUTES.   HE SAYS:  HE JUST FEELS GOOD DOING IT, TO HELP OTHERS.
THE LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM SAYS:  IT HAS NO SHORTAGE.  IT RUNS ITS OWN BLOOD BANK.      LEE SAYS A VERY PRODUCTIVE EMPLOYEE BLOOD DRIVE,   IS TAKING CARE OF THE HOLIDAY NEEDS.
BUT THE FLORIDA BLOOD CENTERS ARE PUTTING OUT THE CALL"   THEY NEED O-NEGATIVE, AND ALSO  A-NEGATIVE AND   A-B NEGATIVE.
