CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Three fishermen who went missing on a trip in the Gulf of Mexico have been rescued.

The men were spotted Saturday about 20 miles west of Clearwater. They were on the hull of their overturned boat, but safe. Arlen Gastineau of Orlando, Ken Harper of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Randy Waldorf of Kansas City, Kan., hung onto the side of boat for 18 hours.

They set out Friday morning and when they didn't return home that night as expected, their families grew worried.

The Coast Guard scoured the area with boats and helicopters. A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat also searched.
