FORT MYERS, Fla. - The morning commute is moving clearly through State Road 82 and Colonial Blvd after a massive gas line explosion. The east bound lanes of Colonial were the last to open, with the barriers finally coming down about midnight.

The construction worker working the bulldozer that punctured the 8 inch line is in critical condition at Tampa General's Burn Unit. 30 year old Mario Santos of Bonita Springs is burned over 50% of his body. Officials tell us his brother rescued him from the bulldozer. A second victim was treated at the scene for some minor injuries.

Flames and black smoke continued to erupt for more than an hour

Thursday when the gas line was ruptured just before 2pm. OSHA will be on the scene to investigate.

WINK News Call For Action did some digging and found this isn't the first time Posen Construction has had an accident on this project. In June an employee was hurt when a crane boom hit them. The company was fined $2,4000. No comment from Posen about this latest accident.
