NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - A 13-year-old boy who deputies say accidentally shot and killed his mother is free and living at home with his father.
The Naples Daily News reported that the boy appeared in court briefly with his father for arraignment Monday morning.
Collier County deputies say the boy fired a fatal shot into his 39-year-old mother's head on Aug. 22 at the family's condominium. The sheriff's office say it was an accident but have released few details about what happened.
The youth was arrested on a manslaughter charge Sept. 24 and spent three weeks in a juvenile jail. His father told the Daily News Monday that he is now back home.
His next court appearance is in December.
