JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Three people have been charged in connection with the death of an 83-year-old Gainesville man who disappeared from Jacksonville International Airport.
Police say Charles Soukup was dropped off at the airport Monday, Oct. 25. He was hoping to catch a flight to visit a sibling in Cleveland, but was unable to get a seat.
Soukup rented a 2010 silver Jeep Liberty to drive back home but never arrived. His family reported him missing the next day. His body was found in a wooded area about two miles from the airport Friday.
Police say Soukup was the victim of a carjacking, but have not said how he died.
Seventeen-year-old Corey Harrington has been charged with murder and carjacking. Two others have been charged with tampering with evidence.
